Noel and Eddie‘s little brother Ray joins the team, and he is a natural, particularly when it comes to telling everyone else how great Jack & Eddies is! Ray focuses on instore sampling, and drives the business forward with tastings, bringing Jack & Eddie‘s further across the country
The Jack & Eddies branded product hits the shelves of Super Valu! The Kavanagh group were one of the first retail supporters of the brand, and the team remember dropping the Kavanagh name to many (initially) unenthusiastic shop owners to get Jack & Eddies sausages and rashers stocked in the store!
Due to phenomenal success at the markets, Eddie and Noel enlist the help of cousin Paul to develop a brand that would best communicate the ethos of quality and family at the heart of the company, and after many long nights of brainstorming, the Jack & Eddies brand is officially born!
Eddie decides to put his name, alongside his eldest son, Jack, front and centre, to emphasise the family, and legacy at the heart of the brand. Jack then aged 5, and now aged 14, has grown up with the brand, and was, and continues to be, the best brand ambassador on the team!
After sampling, trialling and testing to the most critical customers (friends and family!) Eddie decides to take the leap of faith required to face the public, and hits the market trail- with Westport Country Market as the first stop!
The sauasages are a great success, so much so, that on one particular Sunday morning after mass, over 40 extended O’Malley clan members are brought together round the kitchen table to toast the famous O’Malley sausage recipe before it is officially launched to the world for everyone to enjoy! The seeds of Jack & Eddie were well and truly sown!
After a short stint in the world of biochemistry, eldest son Eddie, is passed the mantle of the family farm. In the late 2000’s, Eddie and his brother Noel spot a gap in the market, as many local people wanted to buy pig meat from the farm, and so the pair start selling home made sausages, (from an old family recipe) directly to some very eager customers!
Pat (Patrick’s grandson) together with Marian continue with the family pig farming tradition, and add an additional five O’Malley children to the ever expanding family tree; Eddie, Triona, Noel, Sean, Ray and Ciaran.
It had to start somewhere! The earliest recorded O’Malley pig farmers were Patrick O’Malley, and wife Margaret Sammon. The couple farm the land in the early 1900’s in Carrarevaugh, Westport
